My brave boy
Today, one of my boys got a splinter in his palm from the computer desk. I tried to get it out, using magnifying goggles (don't laugh) but I couldn't get it. It had gone into the skin and the end wasn't sticking out at all. I tried backing it out the same hole it went in, but to no avail. And, I was causing him more pain. It was a job for the doctor. So, we quickly went to the pediatrician where the nurse got it out in about 3 minutes. First, she sprayed it with a cold numbing liquid. Then, she used a needle to open the other end of the skin where the splinter was. She was able to grab it with tweezers and pull it out. Yay, success. And, Tommy was so brave the whole time. Not wimpering or crying at all.

You can see the splinter on the gauze.
