A Sweet Treat

If you like sweet and salty combined, try out this simple and quick recipe.

Saltine Toffee Cookies

Ingredients:

1 cup butter

1 cup dark brown sugar

1 sleeve saltine crackers

2 cups chocolate chips

1 cup chopped nuts, optional

In a single layer, spread out saltine crackers covering a jelly roll pan. (A cookie sheet won't contain the liquid.) Melt 1 cup of butter with 1 cup of dark brown sugar in a saucepan on the stove. Bring to a boil and let boil for 3 minutes. Pour over the crackers. Put pan in the oven and bake for 5 minutes at 375 degrees F. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let the chocolate melt for a minute or two, then spread the softened chocolate evenly with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top. Refrigerate until chilled. Then you can break it up like bark or cut into squares.

Warning: This recipe may be hazardous to your waistline. Please don't blame me if you suddenly start making this on a daily basis or put on a few pounds :)
